Destination Tweed will celebrate and share the nature, history and stories of the River Tweed, one of the UK’s most highly designated and inspirational river corridors. A five-year, partnership-led investment beginning in 2022 will deliver a source to sea trail, which respects its special status and connects communities and attractions with sensitive, impactful and innovative interpretation.
The River Tweed Trail will be a 113-mile walking route with alternative cycling braids from Moffat, past the source of the river, passing through Cornhill and Norham before reaching Berwick-upon-Tweed where the river meets the sea. The multi-faceted initiative, which will see an investment of around £25 million in the area, will also include a wide range of cultural, river and landscape enhancement projects.
Visitors will want to do the walking or cycling trails either in their entirety or in part over a few days with different itinerary options being developed. A dedicated website for the Trail will also be developed for when the route is launched in 2028.

The South of Scotland Destination Alliance, working with colleagues in Visit Northumberland, is committed to ensuring the delivery of a world class visitor experience and will undertake the role of tourism business engagement along the entire route.
They also want to work with those who are interested in developing new visitor experiences and services such as transport and baggage services, food and drink experiences, storytelling, wellness, slow adventure tourism and activities.
