Visit Northumberland is the county’s official VisitEngland accredited Local Visitor Economy Partnership. It provides the leadership, influence and strategic drive to realise the vision of putting Northumberland firmly on the map as a premier visitor destination.
And we are looking for a marketing professional to lead our marketing and partnerships team.
Main Purpose of the role
Part of the leadership team of Visit Northumberland. Develop and lead the Northumberland marketing and partnership strategy, managing the marketing and partnerships team in its implementation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head of Destination Strategy and Head of Tourism to develop and deliver the Visit Northumberland business plan.
- Develop and deliver Visit Northumberland’s marketing and partnership strategy and manage the associated budget.
- Develop, manage and implement a B2C communications and PR strategy to promote destination and product development activity.
- Develop a B2B strategy, to support partnership development and showcase outcomes of Visit Northumberland activities and those of the Destination Management Plan.
- Manage the marketing and partnership teams; ensuring work plans and activities are in place and monitored.
- Ensure effective monitoring of all activity and associated finances, producing relevant and timely reports.
- Engage key stakeholders active in PR and marketing across Northumberland.
- Manage a portfolio of key accounts, designing and selling a bespoke package of services for each and ensuring they receive a high quality service in every respect.
- Develop relationships with teams at key partner organisations in the North East, regionally and nationally including other regional LVEPs, VisitEngland and VisitBritain.
- Support the profile and position lead and sector group for the Destination Management Plan, ensuring engagement, development and delivery of the associated action plan.
Essential skills and experience
- Degree and professional qualification in marketing and/or related discipline
- Proven track record in managing relationships at all levels in public and private sector organisations, and work successfully with a wide variety of people
- Excellent team working skills and the experience of managing teams and performance management
- Knowledge of destination marketing, experience of managing integrated marketing campaigns and understanding Northumberland’s visitor economy and offer
- Experience of a sales and commercial environment and strong commercial acumen to manage associated budgets
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, presentation and public speaking; and organisational and administration skills
- Self-motivated with the enthusiasm needed to achieve results
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, InDesign and Photoshop
- Current driving licence
Working pattern
Full time, 37 hour week. Salary £37,500 per annum
